29.08.2018, 16:15

The programme of this year’s NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days will not be lacking either dynamic nor static presentation of Ostrava Municipal Police. It will present to visitors not only abilities of mounted and dog units or members of the operative section, but also its service equipment.

Participation of Ostrava Municipal Police at NATO Days has traditionally represented diversity of its activities and the planned dynamic displays are proof of that. For example, police officers from the operative section in cooperation with their colleagues from the mounted unit have prepared an intervention against a troubled crowd which will also include the necessity to overcome fire and other obstacles. Visitors will also be provided with an official commentary which will reveal how Ostrava Municipal Police trains its horses and why it considers them being indispensable during interventions related to securing local public order.

In the second dynamic display, members of the dog unit will show off skills of service dogs in cooperation with their experienced handlers. As a part of the performance there will also be a demonstration of the popular detention of an offender in several different situations that officers may encounter during their service. In addition, the display will be enriched by a presentation of dog obedience and its perfect cooperation with its handler which can only be achieved by a long and demanding training.

There will also be a static exposition of Ostrava Municipal Police where visitors will be provided with information about the police job and activities of Prevention and Promotion Section. For children, this display will offer a chance to draw pictures with the police theme or take part in numerous games, competitions and quizzes. Furthermore, the exposition will include presentation of contemporary equipment and gear and give visitors the opportunity to try safe weapon handling or test their shooting skills at a laser shooting-range.

Officers of Ostrava Municipal Police attending this year’s NATO Days will be not only participants, but also organizers as they will secure three free of charge bike storages with the capacity of 10,000 bicycles that will be located at every entrance.
