Germany is returning to the role of a Partner Nation after eight years

11.03.2024, 17:45

NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days continue with the concept of a Special Partner Nation, which offers an extensive presentation of the selected country. For the year 2024, this country will become Germany, whose defense and security forces are planning to present themselves in real style at the Mošnov airport.

Germany already took on this role in 2016, when eight armed, security or rescue units presented themselves at the Mošnov airport, setting a very high bar. In the following years, Germany also significantly followed up on it. This year, it promises to surpass this goal even more, and visitors to the event can look forward to static and dynamic demonstrations of the air force, ground forces, police, customs administration, medical and technical units and others.

"Extensive practical cooperation takes place between the Czech and German armed and security forces, whether it is the army, police or customs administration. We have also been cooperating as members of the North Atlantic Alliance for 25 years. We are happy that this cooperation will also be reflected in the NATO Days, where visitors will have the opportunity to see it in joint demonstrations," said Zbyněk Pavlačík, chairman of Jagello 2000, the main organizer of the event. "Details of the presented units and equipment will be published on an ongoing basis, they are still under negotiation."

The concept of a Special Partner Nation of the NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days since 2014 allows a country to present the comprehensive capabilities of its armed forces and security forces, but also the products of companies operating in the defense and security industry.

The role of the Partner Nation is also reflected in the greater participation of distinguished guests from the country at the event. It can be politicians, senior representatives of the participating units and components, security experts and representatives of commercial companies. Thanks to this unique concept, NATO Days can also serve as a platform for establishing cooperation at the state and commercial level.

"This year we commemorate a quarter of a century of commitment, unity and shared security. The Czech Republic's integral role within NATO - especially airpower - has not only safeguarded its own sovereignty but has also contributed significantly to the broader alliance. I am looking forward to a secure future together," said Lt. Gen. Ingo Gerhartz, commander of the German Air Force.
